Hackensack

There will be a toast to Dave at Rendezvous Brewing in Hackensack on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3-5 p.m.

Visitation will be at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chokio, MN. A livestream will be available (www.pedersenfh.com) for viewing.

Dave was born in Glencoe, Minnesota, August 31, 1960, to Roger and Ruth Gerdes. He grew up in Chokio, Minnesota, where he enjoyed sports, Boy Scouts and band. He graduated from Chokio-Alberta High School in 1978 and from Southwest State in Marshall in 1982. He married the love of his life, Pat Greiner of Hancock, and they spent an incredible 42 years together building a family and a wonderful life.

Dave and Pat lived in Maple Grove for 34 years where they spent time together boating with their family on Weaver Lake. Dave always had a remodeling project going, mastering woodworking, painting, staining, tiling and adding his personal touch to their home.

In 2020, they built their dream home on Pleasant Lake in Hackensack, MN where he labored many hours to make it their perfect haven. He retired from sales in 2021 and they moved permanently to their northern lake home in 2023.

In his last few years, he caught the pickleball bug, bought a home in Melbourne, Florida to escape Minnesota winters and welcomed his first grandchild, Harper, who quickly had him wrapped around her finger. He was a huge MN Twins fan and started every day with some quiet reading time. Dave was blessed with wonderful family and friends, a meaningful career and a life well lived.

David John Gerdes, 64, of Hackensack, MN, passed away suddenly following a severe brain hemorrage on October 7, 2024.

He is survived by wife, Pat: children, Taylor (Jocelyn Friskop) Gerdes, Fargo, and Anna (Zach) Parolek, Omaha; granddaughter, Harper Ann Parolek; parents, Roger and Ruth Gerdes; siblings, Brad (Jo) Gerdes, Jim (Lisa) Gerdes, Sue (Steve) Schuster, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Delores Greiner; maternal grandparents, William and Iva Zentner, and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Lila Gerdes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hackensack Game Changers, P.O. Box 435, Hackensack, MN 56452 for the sports courts project.
