Deb Stadsvold

Memorial services for Debra Stadsvold of Starbuck, formerly of Morris, Minnesota, will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Indherred Lutheran church, in Starbuck, MN with Reverend Paul Johnson officiating.  A visitation will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will take place at Indherred Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Debra Faye Johnson, daughter of Clarence Sr. and A. Jeanette (Toso) Johnson was born on July 30, 1953, in Morris, Minnesota. She was baptized on September 27, 1953, at First Lutheran Church in Morris and confirmed on September 29, 1968, also at First Lutheran Church. Deb grew up in Morris, where she attended school, and graduated with the class of 1972. After graduation she moved to the Twin Cities to begin working for the Star Tribune. While living there, she met her roommate’s brother, Chuck Stadsvold and they were married on April 6, 1974. They had two children, Cory and Bobbi Jo. Deb and Chuck raised their family in Starbuck, MN.  She was always known for her healing hands and worked in the medical field, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home, Starbuck Hospital, Glacial Ridge Health System, and Starbuck Clinic.

Growing up she spent every summer at her family’s cabin on Lake Minnewaska, and continued on this tradition with her kids and grandkids. Her pastimes included being on a bowling league, especially the girls’ bowling weekends, going out to the movie theater to watch her favorite science fiction movies, and most importantly loved being a grandma! She loved teaching her grandkids new things while being very encouraging and patient with them.  Being by the water, watching the sunset, looking at the moon, sitting by a bonfire, Deb was always trying to take the best pictures she could of them. One of Deb’s favorite places to visit was  the beaches of Maui, where she could  walk in the sand collecting seashells and sea glass. Snorkeling out into the water to look at the sea turtles was always an adventure she enjoyed, but prayed she never would see any sharks.

Fall was Deb’s favorite season because it included the annual bonfire and decorating every part of the yard with her giant pumpkins and creative decorations. Her love for decorating was felt for all the holidays and she enjoyed making her own decorations and gnomes. Chuck would help her with the woodworking part of the art projects and Deb would paint them, making sure that everything looked just right, and never rushed to finish them. Her family and friends will greatly miss her.

Deb died peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 70 years old.

Deb is survived by her husband, Chuck Stadsvold of Starbuck; son, Cory (Jennae) Stadsvold of Elbow Lake; daughter, Bobbi Jo (Brandon Burke) Stadsvold of River Falls, WI; Grandchildren: Triston (Mickey) Korkowski of Ogilvie, Benton Stadsvold of Gilette, WY, Kelsey Stadsvold of Elbow Lake, and Samantha Jo Stadsvold-Burke of River Falls, WI; great-grandchildren: Teddy Dockter-Korkowski of Ogilvie, and Ellie Dockter-Korkowski of Ogilvie; Brothers: Emery (Barb) Johnson of Maple Grove, and Dennis (Roxanne Roth) Johnson of Cyrus; Sisters: Mary (Curt) Ettesvold of Morris, and Janet Johnson of Minneapolis; brothers-in-law: Dennis (George) Stadsvold, and Jim Stadsvold; sisters-in-law: Judy (Mike) Johnson, and Mary (Mike) Erickson. She is preceded in death by her parents: Clarence Sr. and Jeanette (Toso) Johnson; sister, Marjorie A. Johnson; and brother, Clarence (Sonny) Johnson Jr.; and nephew, Mitchell Murphy.

Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in care of the arrangements for Deb.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Glacial Ridge Hospice and the Pope County Humane Society.
