The funeral for Della Cin of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Federated Church in Morris, with Reverend Roger Parrish-Siggelkow officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Della "Dee" Frederiksen, daughter of Karl and Karoline (Petersen) Frederiksen was born on March 26, 1915 on the family farm near Clontarf, Minnesota. She attended school in Clontarf, before graduating from Benson High School in Benson, Minnesota. She continued her education in Benson, attending normal school. After her schooling, Della taught country school in Pepperton Township near Alberta, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Wallace Cin on September 27, 1941 in Benson. The couple farmed in Pepperton Township for 3 years before purchasing a farm in Donnelly Township. Della taught in one room country schools in Elderado, and Rendsville Townships before teaching special education at the Morris Public School. The couple retired from farming in 1981. Wallace died on December 22, 1991. Della continued to live on the farm. In the fall of 2011, she moved into the West Central Christian Homes in Morris. Last May Della moved into the Courage Cottage.
Della was a member of the Pepperton Methodist Church and active in the U.M.W. She later became a member of the Federated Church in Morris. She also belonged to the All Tops Homemakers. Della enjoyed fishing and spending time on West Crooked Lake near Nevis, Minnesota. She had an apple orchid on the farm along with flower and vegetable gardens. Della always cherished the farm, especially during the fall harvest and hunting. She will always be remembered for her independent personality and love of her children and grandchildren. Her special adventures included trips to the 1939 World Fair in New York, two Alaskan trips, including ocean fishing and winter breaks in Hawaii, Texas and Florida and the Rose Bowl Parade.
Della died on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Courage Cottage in Morris. She was 99 years old.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Arlyn) Cin, Alexandria, MN and Jon (Jolene) Cin, South Haven, MN; one daughter, Marlene Mohr, Sauk Centre, MN; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Della was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; parents; a grandson, Joel Troy Mohr; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Cin; a son-in-law, Harlan Mohr; four brothers, Nels, Jens, Lars and Carl and four sisters, Marie, Mildred, Emma and Blanche.
