Delores Jeanette Koehler

Funeral services for Delores Koehler of Morris, MN will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Donald Main officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. 

Delores Jeanette Christianson Koehler was born on June 20, 1936 in Hoffman, Minnesota to Edwin and Selma (Helberg) Christianson. Delores spent her first few years in Hoffman until her Dad built their house in rural Cyrus. Delores was baptized on July 12, 1936 and confirmed on May 14, 1950 at Aeneas Lutheran Church in Kensington. She graduated from Cyrus High School in 1954.

Delores married Alfred on June 7, 1958 at Aeneas Lutheran Church. They moved to Morris and Delores’s Dad built their family home. Alfred and Delores were blessed with three sons: Michael, Brian, and Rodney. She cherished times spent with her 11 grandchildren.

Delores worked at Northwest Bell for 12 years as a telephone operator. Delores then stayed at home to take care of the three boys before working for the Morris Area School District. Delores spent time as a paraprofessional and retired as the food service director. Delores worked with Alfred to drive cars for Heartland Motor Company. She helped with the service team at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morris.

Delores enjoyed the outdoors including growing flowers and gardening with her kids and grandkids. Delores was active in 4-H with her boys. She also helped with the 4-H Food Stand for many years. Delores enjoyed supporting her three boys in their school activities and sporting events. She loved watching the grandkids’ activities.

Delores was the ultimate caregiver, taking care of both her parents and Alfred when their health began to fail. She never turned down an opportunity to spend extra time with her grandkids and her cookie jar was always full!

Delores passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at West Wind Village in Morris. She was 87 years old.

She is survived by her three sons: Michael (Alethea), Brian (Jana), and Rodney (Kelly) all of Morris. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dalton, Ethan, Sadie, Ryla, Sienna, Hadley, Macen, Kennlee, Abigail, Mazy, and Brita. Survivors also include nephews, nieces, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband (Alfred), her parents (Edwin and Selma), and parents-in-law (Karl and Erna).

Delores’s family is grateful for the care she received at Lake Region Healthcare-Elbow Lake, Skyview Assisted Living, West Wind Village, and Glacial Ridge Hospice.
