Funeral services for Delroy Heuer of Morris, MN will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a time of sharing at 6:40 at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
Delroy Lee Heuer, son of Elmer and Dora (Kussatz) Heuer was born July 26, 1935 in Morris, Minnesota. He grew up in Framnas and Darnen Townships in Stevens County, where he also attended School District #60. On November 14, 1959, Delroy was united in marriage to Gloria Marie Harstad at Bethany Lutheran Church in Morris by Rev. Torgney Jystad. The couple made their home in Darnen Township, where they farmed. Delroy also helped in the construction of the old Morris Elementary/High School and the West Central School of Agriculture. He drove truck for Minnesota Valley and McGary Brothers, worked part-time for farmers and drove school bus.
Delroy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he and his family helped with the custodial duties. He was also a member of the 9-F Sportsman Club and the Farmer's Union. In his spare time, Delroy enjoyed fishing year round. He liked playing bingo, pool and cards with family and friends. Delroy was very much an outdoorsman and found joy in camping and deer and pheasant hunting. He liked watching a variety of different sports and cheered for the Minnesota teams. Delroy could be a very serious man, but he also had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
Delroy died on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. He lived to reach the age of 76 years.
He survived by his wife: Gloria Heuer of Morris; five children: Deanna Heuer (special friend: DeWayne Ritzschke) of Donnelly, Gail Heuer of Morris, Arnold Heuer of Morris, Sheila (Blair) Hill of Mitchell, SD and Sara (Brian) Martin of St. Cloud; four grandchildren, Randy Hill, Tyler Hill, Gavin Martin and Ethan Martin; one brother: Darrell (Marion) Heuer of Chokio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Orval, Sylvester and Stanley.
Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service with Lisa Cain and Linda Anderson providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
