The funeral for Dennis Radtke, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Morris with Reverend Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Dennis Lyle Radtke, son of Arthur and Josie (Beyer) Radtke was born on February 25, 1938 in Marysland Township in Swift County Minnesota. He grew up in the Danvers, Minnesota area attending school; before graduating from Benson High School, Benson, Minnesota in 1957. Dennis excelled in high school football, receiving All Conference and All State Honors; which lead to a scholarship to play football at the University of Minnesota. Dennis attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, before entering the United States Army. In 1959, he was honorably discharged and returned to Minneapolis. After working construction for a short time, Dennis moved back to Danvers and started a mink farm with his brother Delmer. Dennis was united in marriage to Donna Henrichs on September 16, 1967 in Morris. The couple made their home in Morris, where Dennis continued to farm mink and work for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Department in Benson. In 1969, he began working for UPS out of Morris. The couple built their home east of Morris in 1973. Dennis retired from UPS in 1998 and has continued to live at his home until the time of his death.
Dennis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a trapper, hunter and fisherman, loving the outdoors. Dennis enjoyed working in the yard, caring for the flowers and lawn. He will be remembered for being an organized, honest man who took pride in everything he did. Most cherished by Dennis was his wife, children and grandchildren who he deeply loved spending time with.
Dennis died on Monday, March 9, 2015 at his home near Morris. He was 77 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, Morris; three sons, Steven (Laura) Radtke, Alexandria, MN, Brian (Samantha) Radtke, North St. Paul, MN and Chad (Kimberly) Radtke, New London, MN; one daughter, Tammy (Joby) Radtke-Looker, Morris; one brother, Delmer Radtke, Danvers, MN; one sister, Margery (Leo) Pierson, Rochester, MN; and eight grandchildren, Amanda Radtke, Blake Radtke, Tory Radtke, Alexandria, Brody Radtke, North St. Paul, Josie Looker, Jenna Looker, Morris, Brooke Friehl, New London and Spencer Nordmeyer, New York, NY. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Lyle Mallan and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rhody and Edith Henrichs.
