The funeral for Dennis Dean Stahn, of Donnelly, Minnesota will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Donnelly, with Reverend Judy Gelinske officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Dennis Dean Stahn, son of K.K. and Agatha (Schwarzrock) Stahn was born on August 18, 1946 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. When Dennis was very young, the family purchased a farm West of Donnelly, Minnesota. He grew up on this farm and attended elementary school in Alberta, Minnesota. He later attended high school at the University of Minnesota's Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota, graduating in 1964. Dennis furthered his education at the Wahpeton School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, receiving a certificate in diesel engines and auto mechanics. After his schooling, he spent two years in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he worked for the Tonka Toy Company. Through his high school and college years, Dennis always returned home for the summer to work on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Karen Lampert in November, 1970. The couple later moved onto the family farm west of Donnelly. Dennis continued to work the land until his retirement from farming. Dennis more recently also worked winters welding at Case/New Holland Manufacturing in Benson and later with Bennett Zierke in Hancock.
Dennis was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Donnelly. He was baptized and confirmed into faith in Christ. He enjoyed visiting the western states of the U.S. and the north shore of Minnesota. Dennis loved his farm and was deeply tied to the land he worked. Farming was never considered work to Dennis as this was his love and passion. He was an excellent mechanic, master welder, and accomplished farmer.
Dennis died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, Minnesota. He was 66 years old.
He is survived by three sons, Curtis (Kimberly) Stahn, Wauwatosa, WI, Kevin (Trang) Stahn, Colorado Springs, CO and Keith (Marlena) Stahn, Kirkland, WA; two brothers, Kermit (Karen) Stahn, Morris, MN and Arthur (Pat) Stahn, Chokio, MN; two sisters, Dianne (Gary) Lampert, Morris, MN and Barbara (Gary) Carlson, Willmar, MN; and six grandchildren, Nicholas and Harrison Stahn, Wauwatosa, WI, Jeremy Stahn, Colorado Springs, CO, Mackenzie Stahn, Anaheim, CA, Zachary Stahn, Enderlin, ND and Sierra Ortega, Seattle, WA. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Daniel Stahn and a niece, Kayla Lampert.
Dennis asked God into his life. Even as Dennis' spirit is at home in the hands of a loving God, his love reaches out to his family and friends.
