Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

DeWayne Allen Jackson was born April 28, 1936 in Starbuck, MN in Pope County, to Elmer W and Lillian (Loen) Jackson. He was raised on the family farm in Blue Mounds Township. He attended Country School District #53 through the 9th grade and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1953.

After graduation, he farmed with his dad until his marriage on September 28, 1957 to Marlys Hanson. He then farmed with his brother Eldred until purchasing the Clarence Sylvester farmstead in 1961. He milked cows and raised hogs and beef cattle; continuing to farm until 2006 when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. In 2010, his son, Ryan, took over the labor part of the farm while DeWayne became the armchair manager. He was often seen driving around the farm on his three wheeler, checking on the crops and the "hired men". He loved having his sons, grandchildren, and other family members come to help out with the field work.

He loved the land, sports, hunting and fishing. Family and extended family activities were very important to him. Organizing impromptu baseball games was always something he was good at. Everyone had a place on his team no matter what kind of player you were. Card games, board games and puzzles were some of his favorite past times. Trips with his children and grandchildren and family reunions were things he always had time for. He loved dancing with Marlys, the love of his life. He was coach, mentor and cheerleader to all of "his kids" and he enjoyed attending any event they were involved in. He loved helping his kids show animals at the fairs and was often seen at the fair grounds during the county fair.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (Past President & Trustee), an adult leader of Greenland 4H, a member of Pope County Pork Producers; Pope County Fair Board; Minnewaska Hospital Board and Pope County Outstanding Young Farmer in 1964. He played baseball on the town team in Cyrus until the age of 40. He was an inspiration to his family, loved to visit and he was a man of great faith. His favorite subject of discussion was farming but he loved to laugh and tease too. He was always fun to be around. He will be truly missed by those whose lives he touched.

DeWayne died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home. He lived to reach the age of 75 years.
