Donald Duffney

The funeral for Donald Duffney, of Glenwood, Minnesota, formerly of Fairbault, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Celebrant for the service will be Father Erik Lundgren. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, Minnesota and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a time of family sharing at 7:30 p.m. at the Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 7300 42nd Ave. New Hope, Minnesota. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Donald Duffney, son of Omer and Alice (Bauer) Duffney was born on February 2, 1935 at Faribault, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. After his schooling, he entered the U.S. Navy, serving his country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1955, Donald returned to Faribault and married Sylvia Miller. The couple moved to Minneapolis, where Donald worked for Carlson Store Fixture as a supermarket refrigeration installer. In 1981, he started Duffney Refrigeration in Corcoran, Minnesota and also farmed and raised beef cattle. Don retired from farming and cattle in 1995, but continued to work with his sons until the time of his death. On September 7, 2001, while living in Arizona, Don met his best friend, Mary Wright. The couple moved to Glenwood in 2005 and built their dream home together.

He loved motorcycles, fast cars, beautiful women and refrigeration. Donald loved his work and was known as a perfectionist. He was a member of the pipefitters union #539 for 56 years.

Donald died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Minnesota. He was 77 years old.
He is survived by his life partner, Mary Wright, Glenwood; six children, Mark (Robin), Brooklyn Park, Ernest (Laura), Hamel, Michael, Buffalo, Dean (Lori), Maple Grove, Pam Duffney, Plymouth, and Dawn (Eric) Odegaard, Dayton; one brother, Phillip (Katie) Duffney, Faribault; three sisters, Delores Stevermer, Faribault, Beverly Weigle, Ham Lake, and Phyllis (Les) Kaderlik, Faribault; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold and one sister Angeline.
