Donald C. Eich

Memorial Mass for Donald Eich, of Morris, Minnesota, will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Todd Schneider and Deacon Stan Hennen will celebrate the mass. A visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris.

Donald Charles Eich was born on February 19, 1929, in Morris, Minnesota. He was raised in Morris and was baptized and confirmed in his Catholic faith. He also received his education here, graduating from the Morris High School. After high school, Don worked with the Stevens County Highway Department on the Survey Crew, for one season. In August of 1948, Donald and a few other young men from Morris, enlisted into the United States Air Force. He was actively serving for four years and then continued with the Reserves for six years. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Don returned to Morris and went back to work with the Stevens Co. Highway Department for five years. In 1963, Donald went into business as a building contractor with his brother, Leonard, a business known as Eich Brothers, Incorporated. They were in business together for 37 years before both retiring. 

Donald was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris and volunteered as the Calvary Cemetery Sexton for 14 years. Don was an avid Morris Athletic supporter and attended many high school and UMM Cougars sporting events and tournaments. As a huge sports fan, Don also attended several Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings games. In his younger years, Don played baseball on the Morris town team and with the American Legion. 

Donald died peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2024, at his home at West Wind Village in Morris, he was 95 years old.

Donald is survived by his two nephews; one niece; extended family; and many friends. Donald is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard; two half-sisters: Mina Wiley and Dorothy Dyson; and one niece, Carol.
