Donald Huebner

The funeral for Donald P. Huebner, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Ken Bowman officiating. Visitation will be on Monday at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery, Morris.

Donald Peter Huebner, son of August and Margaret (Stahlman) Huebner was born on April 12, 1921 at Morris, Minnesota. He graduated from Alberta High School in Alberta, Minnesota. Donald then began working construction in the Donnelly area, before he entered the U.S. Air Corps in December of 1942. He was united in marriage to Joyce Strand on December 14, 1943. Shortly after, Donald left to serve his country during WW II, serving as a radio mechanic in Central Europe, Normandy, and North France and was awarded several medals. Donald was honorably discharged in October of 1945, and returned to Minnesota. In 1947, Donald and Joyce rented a farm near Cyrus, Minnesota, before purchasing a farm West of Donnelly in 1952. The couple moved into Morris in 1986; however Donald continued to be active with farming until the early 2000's.

Donald was a life member at First Lutheran Church in Morris, where he was baptized and confirmed. He served on the church council as well as an usher for many years. He served as member and chairman on the Federal Land Bank Board, was a member of the Morris VFW, Minnesota Flying Farmers, and member of the Morris-Hancock Flying Club. He and Joyce loved to travel; not only throughout the United States but in several other countries across the world. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, and golfing, but will be remembered most for the love he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donald died on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Stevens County Medical Center in Morris. He was 90 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, Morris; two sons, Ralph (Mary M.) Huebner, Donnelly and Rich (Deb) Huebner, Correll; one daughter, Diane (Richard) Beckman, San Diego, CA; one sister, Margie Wagner Leavenworth, KS; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Robert, Lloyd, Walter, Raymond and Lester, and one sister, Bertha Andert.

Pallbearers for the funeral will be Donald's grandchildren: Charles Huebner, David Huebner, Jon Huebner, Matthew Huebner, Robert Huebner, Amy Swanson, Shawn Huebner, Nathan Huebner, Carlos Huebner, Eric Huebner, Sarah Beckman and Jessica Ziebarth. Mary Huebner will be soloist and Deb Mahoney will be organist for the service.
