Donald Kloos

Funeral services for Donald Kloos of Starbuck will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Robert Kieffer will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.

Donald John Kloos, son of Daniel and Freda (DeVries) Kloos was born October 1, 1941 at his family's farm home in Grant County, Minnesota. Don grew up on a farm near Herman, where he also began his schooling, attending Herman High School. On June 19, 1965, he was united in marriage to Helen Kopel in Donnelly, Minnesota. Over the years, Don did road construction in South Dakota, prestressed concrete in Roseville, and drove truck for a couple years until he started farming in 1967. Don continued farming for the rest of his life. He loved everything about the farm, especially his John Deere Tractors. He also had 20, 000 chickens, where he marketed his own eggs, farrowed 150 sows and milked 40 cows.

Don loved all aspects of horses, working with them and attending many functions involving draft horses. He also enjoyed attending auction sales. Don loved spending time with his grandkids and driving around in his golf cart, checking out the farm and crops with his dog Shep.

Don died on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his home in rural Rolling Forks Township in Pope County, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 71 years.

He is survived by his wife: Helen Kloos of Starbuck; five children: Dawn (Donnie) Reeves of Starbuck, Diane (Rick) Hauer of Starbuck, Debbie (Lonnie) DeSmith of Starbuck, Jon (Jessica) Kloos of Glenwood and Kayla (Andrew) Kottsick of Fargo, ND; two sisters: Vionne (Darrell) Hadler of Donnelly and Dorothy (Guy) Connor of Eden Prairie; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Larry and Vernlyn.

Pallbearers for the service are: Brittany Reeves, Kole Reeves, Tyler Kloos, Zachary Kloos, Wayne Hadler and Steve Kloos. Honorary pallbearers will be Don's grandchildren. Special music provided by Josh Fischer and Norman Bartells Jr. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
