Donna Schmidgall

December 6, 1934 — July 5, 2005

Donna Carol Dosdall, daughter of Clinton and Ada (Healy) Dosdall, was born on December 6, 1934 in Hancock, Minnesota. She was raised by her grandparents, Sarah and Ed Dosdall after the death of her mother. She attended school in Hancock.



On April 23, 1955, Donna was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Howard Milton Schmidgall. They made their home in Hancock, Minnesota, where they were blessed with 14 children. Donna and Howard recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.



Donna was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many. She enjoyed raising her children and cherished time spent with her husband fishing and taking drives through the countryside. Donna spent many hours sewing for family and friends, as well as for many school activities. She enjoyed dollmaking, baking, gardening, reading, going for walks and caring for many family pets. Donna especially loved the holidays, and spent many hours in the kitchen and at her sewing machine to create truly special holiday memories for her family.



Donna attended and was actively involved in the Hancock Evangelical Free Church, and more recently enjoyed attending the Benson Evangelical Free Church.



Donna is survived and will be greatly missed by one half-brother, Merton Dosdall, one step-sister, Lois (Bob) Massey, and one step-brother, Charles (Vi) Crabtree, her loving husband Howard, her 14 children: Bonnie (Bob) Edwards of Stephens City, VA, Charles Schmidgall of Vallejo, CA, Jerry (Lisa) Schmidgall of Elgin, IL, Dawn (Rick) Heike of Benson, MN, Denise (Scott) See of Winchester, VA, Wanda Schmidgall of Minneapolis, MN, Judy Johnson of Hancock, Dean (Dorinda) Schmidgall of Costa Mesa, CA, Sharon (Barry) Hirschey Of Staples, MN, Jay (Sheryl) Schmidgall of St Louis Park, MN, Sara (Japannah) Kellogg of Ames, IA, Joel (Kelli) Schmidgall of Hancock, Lee (Mandi) Schmidgall of Savage, MN and Paul (Mary) Schmidgall of Fargo, North Dakota; 29 grandchildren: Randy, Daniel, Nathan, Denise, Danielle, Percy, Brad, Jessica, Iesha, KayLee, Jesse, Erin, Annie, Zach, Luke, Jason, Dustin, Cody, Loren, Noah, Emily, Addison, Larken, Kionna, Shaya, Japannah, Kara, Ian, Aidan; and 5 great grandchildren: Porsche, Destiny, Seth, Riley, and Kyan.



Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Ada Dosdall, her stepmother, Cecil Thielmann, a step-brother, Gerald Crabtree, and one grandson, Joshua Kuschmirz.



Donna's life was a testament to her faith and God's love and grace. She was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed.



Lois Strei will serve as pianist for the service with Laura Lenarz serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
