Doris Bumann

Doris Helen Lottes, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Zarndt) Lottes, was born May 27, 1918 in New Salem, North Dakota, where she grew up and was baptized at the Evangelical Reformed Peace Church. She attended and graduated from New Salem High School . On October 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Erwin William Bumann in Glendive , Montana . The couple moved to the Herman, Minnesota area, where they began raising their family and worked. They later moved to Morris, and continued to work.

Doris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church , where she served on the faith circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens, reading, coffee parties with friends and walking. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by three children: Carol Smith of Tampa, FL, Jeanne (Lee) Brewer of Alexandria and Jeff (Sue) Bumann of Morris; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister: Irene (Fred) Kaelberer of Bismarck, ND; one brother: DuWayne (Laverne) Lottes of New Salem, ND and brother-in-law: Edgar Klusmann of New Salem, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law: Ronald Smith and two sisters: Ruth Klusmann and Gertrude Lottes.

Pallbearers for the service are: Joel Bumann, Melissa Bumann, Ryan Smith, Shawna Smith-Wiss, Heather Luthi, Christy Miller and Courtney Brewer. Honorary pallbearers are: Larkin Colby, Carter Wiss, Caden Wiss, Cedee Orth-Smith, Hunter Smith, Katelyn Smith, Alivia Luthi, Lily Luthi and Anna Luthi. Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service with Lee Brewer and Heather Luthi providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
