A Memorial services for Doris Rud of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at West Wind Village in Morris. Reverend Paul Erdal will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial was in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Doris was born August 6, 1919 in Glenwood Duel County in South Dakota to Albert and Lillie (Crocker) Sleaper. Doris grew up on farms around Gary, South Dakota. In 1933, she moved to Kansas City and later moved to Albert Lea, MN. In September, 1941, she was united in marriage to James T. Rud. They have a son James A. Rud who lives in Grantsville, Maryland. They lived in Texas, Arkansas then settled in Kensington, MN. In 1946, they moved to Morris, Minnesota. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Morris. She had a variety of jobs during her working years, the Comfort Garter Company, Fingerhut, Home Builder Gas Company, S & L Dress Shop and the University of Minnesota Morris.
She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She had several hobbies that she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and grew a beautiful array of flowers on her deck.
Doris passed away at the age of 93 on February 16, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Henry Sleaper and Madison Sleaper. She is survived by her husband and son; grandson, Carlton Raithier; granddaughter, Ashley (Robert) Vacek; two great-grandsons, Carlton and Corey Vacek and nieces, nephews and cousins.
