Funeral services for Dorothea "Dot" Sperr of Morris, MN will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, MN. Reverend David Hanssen will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery near Herman.

Dorothea Evangeline "Dot" Larson, daughter of Lauris and Millie (Boe) Larson, was born September 20, 1916 in Chokio, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. Following her schooling, Dot moved to Shooks, MN where she worked as a waitress. At the age of 16, Dot moved to Litchfield, where she worked at the creamery. In June of 1937, she was united in marriage to Alex Johnson and made their home on a farm near Donnelly. Alex died in May of 1961. On February 13, 1964, she was united in marriage to Raymond "Sparky" Sperr at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman by Reverend Larson. The couple lived in the Herman and Donnelly area, where they devoted their life to farming. In 1997, Dorothea and Ray retired from farming and moved to Morris. Sparky died July 4, 2010. Dot continued to live in Morris until the time of her death.

Dot was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church since 1937. She enjoyed fishing, needlework, playing cards, bingo and bowling. Dot and Sparky spent 17 years wintering in Arizona. Dot helped raise her niece Patricia Peck and continued to be a mother to her all through her life.

Dot died Monday, March 6, 2017 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to the age of 100 years.

She is survived by special niece and her husband: Patricia and Jerry D. Peck of Guttenberg, IA; sister: Alice June Chenowith of Minneapolis and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Alex Johnson and Raymond "Sparky" Sperr; her parents; sisters: Ann Josephine Weseman, Ella Hasina Hovde, Selma Helena Gillies and Gertrude Marie Heibel and brothers: Lawrence Larson and Arthur Henry Larson.
