Dorothy Mae Christians was born to Herman and Bertha (Quam) VanZomeren on their family farm, October 6 th 1947, in rural Herman Minnesota . Growing up she truly enjoyed all aspects of the farm life, never shying away from a hard days work. In 1965 she graduated from Herman High School . Shortly thereafter, she married Butch Christians of which the union was blessed with two children, Jennifer and Mark.

In the mid 70’s she met and fell in love with Bob Boerner. She lived, loved and worked beside Bob for nearly thirty years. Together they had one son, Thomas.

In her late thirtys, she discovered her life’s poem! Graduating with honors as a Registered Nurse, she worked tirelessly on both Detox and Long Term Care units. A devoted and highly respected nurse, her skills and passion touched all that came in contact with her. Lifting the spirit with her smile and comforting the soul with her touch.

The blessing of her grandchildren, Cayle, Christian, Cienna, Solomon, Robert, Joseph, Marcus, Tristan and Ryan brought her happiness and joy more immense than words can describe.

Dorothy lost her battle with lung cancer on the 14 th day of December, 2009 after two and a half years. She was in the presence of those who loved and cared for her the most. Her memory will live on in the lives of all that called her Mother, Grandmother, Friend or NURSE!!!!

Dorothy is survived by one daughter: Jennifer Christians-Halberg of Bloomington; one son: Thomas Boerner of Herman; nine grandchildren and two sisters: Patricia (Roger) Stevenson of Cold Spring and Roberta (Willis) Volker of Herman. She was preceded in death by one son: Mark Christians; one brother: Richard VanZomeren and Harlan “Bob” Boerner

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. Deb Blume will serve as organist for the service.
