Dorothy Schmidgall

Dorothy Laurea (Wendt) Schmidgall, age 92, of Morris, formerly of Hancock, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023. As per Dorothy’s wishes, no services will be held.

Dorothy was born to Ernest and Grace (Pemberton) Wendt on April 28, 1931 in Swift County. She attended school in District 48 in Swift County and then graduated from Hancock School in 1949.

Dorothy was married to Gene Schmidgall of Hancock on January 11, 1952. Following their marriage, they made their home in Hancock. They have seven children, and all attended the Hancock School. Dorothy was a homemaker, and enjoyed reading, cross-stitching and volunteering at the Hancock Senior Center and Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Doug (Pat) Schmidgall of Morris, Dave (June) Schmidgall of Hancock, LuAnn (Mike) Brandt of Morris, Gary (Rose Peluso) Schmidgall of Anoka, Patti (Troy) Wiese of Phoenix, AZ, Ruth Schmidgall-White of Phoenix, AZ and Andy (Amy) Schmidgall of Morris; siblings: Arlene Mecklenburg of Kansas, and Keith (Connie) Wendt of Glenwood; sister-in-law: Darlene Carlton of Washington; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; sister: Verna Johnson; brother: Robert Wendt and great-grandson: Trayton Judkins.
