Memorial services for Dorothy Nagl Schuelke of Westminster, California, formerly of Morris will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary and prayer service beginning at 6:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. A second Memorial service will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Westminster, CA.

Dorothy Mae Nagl, daughter of Joseph and Clara (Satzer) Nagl was born on January 28, 1933 at Scott Township, near Morris, Minnesota. She grew up and attended country school and later attended Morris High School, graduating in 1951. After her schooling, Dottie moved to Minneapolis and began working as a telephone operator. She was united in marriage to Charles William Schuelke on April 21, 1954. The couple lived in numerous places throughout Charles' career in the U.S. Air Force, before settling in Orange County, California. Dottie worked for the Sears & Roebuck Company before working as a secretary at a law firm. She also worked as a bookkeeper for a manufacturing company, before going back to school. Dottie graduated from Coastline Community College on June 5, 1992. She then worked at the college in the risk management department before retiring in 2009.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, interior decorating, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She loved trips to Minnesota, the mountains, and the beach. Dorothy will be most remembered for her sense of humor and the way her eyes lit up when she smiled.

Dottie died on Friday, August 19, 2011 at her sister's home near Morris. She was 78 years old.

She is survived by four sons, Charles Schuelke, Yuba City, CA, Douglas (Dena) Schuelke, Kalispell, MT, Rick (Chris) Schuelke, Laguna Beach, CA and Randy Schuelke, Riverside, CA; three daughters, Viki (Jerry) Teel, Cardiff, CA, Kathleen (Jaime) Chavez, Beaverton, OR and Janet (Martin) Andersen, San Clemente, CA; two brothers, George (Virene) Nagl, Morris, MN and Donald Nagl, Zimmerman, MN; four sisters, Theresa Brosh, Morris, MN, Margaret (Frank) Zahl, Park Rapids, MN, Helen (Jim) Schroeder, Aitkin, MN and Patty Slack, Minneapolis, MN; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delores Schutz.

Serving as urnbearer is Dorothy's son, Rick Schuelke. Honorary pallbeares are The MHS Class of 1951. Linda Hodgson will serve as pianist for the service with Cindy Riedner serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
