Dorothy Arzelle Christopherson, daughter of Nels and Hannah (Brunzell) Christopherson, was born on August 13, 1917 in Benson, MN, where she grew up and was educated. Dorothy graduated from Benson High School in 1935. She was united in marriage in 1938 in Benson, MN to George Sunde. The couple lived and farmed in the Benson area, where Dorothy started raising her family and helping George on the farm. In 1947 the family moved to the Lowry, Starbuck area and continued farming. George passed away in 1967 and Dorothy moved into Starbuck. She worked a variety of jobs in and around Starbuck. In 2003, Dorothy moved into the Minnewaska Lutheran Home. Even though Dorothy was a resident, she continued working and helping, as she was able. She served as a greeter and was always caring for others.
Dorothy was a member of Fron Lutheran Church and was involved in all its activities. She really enjoyed birds and belonged to the local bird watching club. Above all, Dorothy loved being with her family and friends.
Dorothy died on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 88 years.
She is survived by her son: Dennis (Sandra) Sunde of Isanti, MN; two daughters: Janice Vogt of Avon, MN and JoAnn (Patrick) Drain of St. Paul, MN; brother: Roger (Bette) Christopherson of Blaine, MN; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: Nels and Hannah; her husband: George Sunde; grandson: Todd Vogt; great-grandson: Graham Sunde; three brothers: Donald, Lowell, and Robert Christopherson.
Pallbearers for the service are Dorothy?s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy?s granddaughter: Kerry Grant will provide special music. Starbuck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
