The funeral services for Dorothy Schmidgall of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. Apostolic Christian Church Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in rural Morris. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris on September 17th. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Morris.
Dorothy Anna Pfister, daughter of Jacob and Anna (Huber) Pfister was born December 9, 1921 in Ft. Scott, Kansas. She attended Center School through 8th grade and graduated from Fort Scott High School. After graduation Dorothy helped on the family farm near Fort Scott. She was baptized and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on November 24, 1938. On November 29, 1942 she was united in marriage to Wayne Schmidgall in Fort Scott, Kansas. In 1951 the couple started Schmidgall Sand and Ready Mix and Dorothy did the bookkeeping for the business for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, food preservation, and spending time with her family. Wayne and Dorothy enjoyed traveling and visited many countries. She was very instrumental in the formation of the Stevens County DAC, always remembering all the DAC clients at Christmas time and supported the Stevens Country ARC.
Dorothy passed away on September 13, 2018 at the West Wind Village in Morris having reached the age of 96 years.
She is survived by four children: Dennis (Ruby) Schmidgall, Neil (Linda) Schmidgall, Faye Schmidgall and Jerel (Linda) Schmidgall all of Morris; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Hartzell Schmidgall of Mediapolis, Iowa, and Gilbert (Barbara) Schmidgall of Morris; three sisters-in-law: Virginia Schmidgall and Dorothy Schmidgall both of Morris and Darlene Carlton of Bonney Lake, Washington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wayne; her parents, three grandchildren: Connie, Debra, and Marianne Schmidgall; one great-great grandson: Wyatt Lanz: three sisters: Ruth (Gus) Sinn, Eunice (Ephriam) Koehl, and Esther (Charles) Koehl; four brothers-in-law: Francis (Mabel) Schmidgall, Richard (Corrine) Schmidgall, Don Schmidgall and Gene Schmidgall; three sisters-in-law: Marian Schmidgall, Gladys (Frank) Messner and Estella (Calvin) Moser.
