Douglas Erickson

Memorial services for Doug Erickson, 67 of Brainerd, MN, formerly of Chokio, MN will be Monday, October 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chokio, with Reverend Hollis Kim and Reverend Bob Amundson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, near Chokio.

Douglas "Doug" Gene Erickson, 67, of Brainerd, MN formerly of Chokio, MN went home to be with Jesus on October 20th, 2018 unexpectedly at his home. Doug was born to Maynard and Arline Erickson on May 13th, 1951. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He graduated from Chokio Alberta High School class of 1969.

On September 5th, 1981 he married his wife of 37 years; Margo Rudek of Brainerd. He worked many years in the roles of dispatch and shipping/receiving. Doug loved the outdoors and spent much of his life hunting, fishing, and planning the next camping trip. Spending time with family was a joy; however, buying treats and playing with the "grand-puppies" seemed to be top priority. Doug enjoyed having projects that included paintings, wood-working or the yearly Christmas ornament for the tree. In the mornings you could always find him drinking coffee at the kitchen table working on his crossword.

Doug is survived by his wife: Margo Erickson, Brainerd, MN; two sons: Adam (Kelli) Erickson, Westminster, CA, and their sons, Elliott and Brady Erickson, and Blake (Steph) Erickson, Warroad, MN and their sons, Lane Landis and Callum Erickson; one daughter: Courtney (Drew) Jessen, Buffalo, MN; his parents: Maynard and Arline Erickson, Chokio, MN; brothers-in-law: Steve (Robyn) Rudek of Brainerd and Brad Rudek of Duluth; sister-in-law Chris Rudek of CO; honorary daughter: Rashell McGrath of WA; other extended family, and any dog that would accept a treat. He was preceded in death by grandson: Bryce Douglas Erickson; brother: Brad Erickson and infant sister: Rebecca Erickson.
