Funeral services for Dwain Benson of Morris, Minnesota will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church near Morris. Reverend Michael Hanson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
Dwain Delbert Benson, son of Russell and Luella (Selix) Benson, was born June 15, 1922 in Benson, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in the Morris area, graduating from Morris High School in 1940. Following his schooling, Dwain entered the United States Navy, where he served in World War II. On September 24, 1947, Dwain was united in marriage to Minnie Goll. Following their marriage, Dwain began working at Morris Radio and TV, where he eventually became the owner and operator. He continued to work there until the time of his retirement.
Dwain was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Morris V.F.W., American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed volunteering at the food shelf in Morris, taking care of his yard and spending time with family and friends.
Dwain died Thursday, June 13, 2013 surrounded by family at his home in Morris. He lived to reach the age of 90 years.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Benson; two children, Gary (Gail) Benson and LuAnn (Tom) Kaeter; four grandchildren, Eric (Gretchen) Benson, Heather (Jared) Hawkinson, Sara (Mike) Fitzgerald and Michael (Hannah) Kaeter; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Benson; his parents and brother, Myron Benson.
