Funeral services for Edmund Dablow of Mankato, MN, formerly of Morris, MN will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, with Reverend Marlin Mohrman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Edmund Earl Dablow, son of Edmund and Irma (Sommer) Dablow, was born July 8, 1935 in Graceville, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Morris, graduating from Morris High School. In 1954, Ed enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. On September 28, 1955, he was united in marriage to Joan Benson in Mason City, Iowa. Ed received an honorable discharge in 1956. He returned to Morris for a short time before moving his family to Minneapolis to attend Dunwoody Technical Institute for two years. Ed started working for IBM and moved his family to Iowa, where they lived for many years.
Ed spent 12 winters in Americus, Georgia working and helping build homes for Habitat for Humanity. He loved annual trips to remote areas of Canada to camp and fish. He also loved the trips to Alaska.
Edmund died on February 13, 2015 in Panama City, Florida. He lived to 79 years.
He is survived by his wife: Joan Dablow of Mankato; one son: Greg (Elizabeth) Dablow of Little Canada; three daughters: Julie (Scott) Devens of Mankato, Rebecca (Bob) Arndt of Mankato and Lori Dablow of St. Paul; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Helen Kill of Morris, Margie Benson of Morris and Adeline Benson of Eden Prairie; his aunt: Joyce Willis of Charleston, SC and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers-in-law; three uncles and one aunt.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS THE FAMILY PREFERS MEMORIALS TO THE STEVENS COUNTY SALVATION ARMY, WOUNDED WARRIORS AND SAMARITAN PURSE.
