Funeral services for Edna Dohmstreich of Cyrus, MN will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. Reverend Chris Richards will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at St. Petri Cemetery in Cyrus.
Edna Amelia Anderson, daughter of Martin and Oline (Lunden) Anderson was born September 25, 1909 on the family farm in Walden Township, rural Cyrus. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Church in Cyrus by Reverend Andrew Olson. Edna grew up and attended school in Cyrus and continued her education at Emelia Eck Sewing School. Following her schooling, she began working at the Cyrus Mutual Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She was united in marriage to Walter Dohmstreich on February 26, 1950 in Morris, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Cyrus where Edna continued to work as a telephone operator for over 29 years. Walter died February 16, 1976. Edna continued to live in Cyrus until the time of her death.
Edna was an active member of the St. Petri Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus where she was active in the Ruth Circle and Do-Days. She was also a member of the Morris American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizen's Center.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and keeping her house neat. Edna always loved her coffee and spending time with her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Edna died on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Courage Cottage in Morris. She was 106 years old.
She is survived by her sister-in-law: Carol Berger of Morris and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wally; her parents; three brothers and five sisters.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Courage Cottage, Knute Nelson Hospice and St. Petri Cemetery Restoration. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
