Funeral services for Edna Zeltwanger of Morris will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. The Apostolic Christian Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Edna Mae Meiss, daughter of Gustav and Bertha (Grusy) Meiss, was born January 22, 1925 in Cissna Park, Illinois, where she grew up and began her schooling. Edna graduated from Cissna Park High School in 1941. Following her schooling, she moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where she was employed by an insurance Company. She later moved to Peoria, Illinois, where she continued to work in the insurance business. On September 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Zeltwanger in Cissna Park, Illinois. The couple lived and farmed near Kenneth's family for a few years, and in 1952, they purchased a farm in Moore Township. Kenneth died on March 15, 2005. Edna continued to live on the farm until 2008, when she moved to Skyview Plaza in Morris.
Edna was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting and reading. She especially loved spending time with, and reading to, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edna died on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 86 years.
She is survived by her three sons: Dale (Rachel) Zeltwanger of Morris, Loren (Rhonda) Zeltwanger of Goodfield, IL and Rollyn (Jodi) Zeltwanger of Hancock; nine grandchildren: Adam (Christy) Zeltwanger, Micah (Holly) Zeltwanger, Dixie (Wes) Gerber, Carrie (Tom) Strahm, Rosie (Trent) Strahm, Emily (Nathan) Sauder, Nathan (Brittany) Zeltwanger, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Zeltwanger and Matthew (Sejla) Zeltwanger; 17 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Harrison and Sydney Zeltwanger; Sierra, Sage, Cale and Tait Zeltwanger; Tenley Gerber; Payton, Elliott and Vivian Strahm; Nyah and Malachi Strahm; Haley and Brookelyn Sauder and Brett and Polly Jo Zeltwanger; two brothers: Harold Meiss of Eureka, IL and Roy (Sherry) Meiss of Carmel, IN and two sisters: Irene Rinkenberger of Eureka, IL and Verena (Ralph) Knapp of Bloomington, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; two sisters and their husbands: Dorothy (Robert) Norr and Marguerite (Martin) Kipfer; brother, William Meiss; brother-in-law, Joe Rinkenberger and sister-in-law, Ann Meiss.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Adam Zeltwanger, Micah Zeltwanger, Nathan Zeltwanger, Nathan Sauder, Jeffrey Zeltwanger and Matthew Zeltwanger. Honorary pallbearers are: Wes and Dixie Gerber, Tom and Carrie Strahm and Trent and Rosie Strahm. The Apostolic Church Choir will provide special music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
