Funeral services for Elanda Hanson of Morris, MN will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris. Pastor Marlin Mohrman will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Swan Lake Township.
Elanda Lorraine Tomason, daughter of William Lacy and Lucy Emma (Koranda) Tomason was born April 4, 1930 in Morris, Minnesota. She grew up in the Morris-Alberta area and attended school in Morris. She was united in marriage to Melvin Hanson on September 30, 1948 in Morris, to this union two children were born. The family continued to live in Morris where Elanda worked at local restaurants, West Central Community Actions and the University of Minnesota Morris as a custodian, where she later retired. While working at the UMM, she also graduated with a degree in art and geology. Following her retirement, she continued to live in the Morris area. Melvin passed away October 8, 2000. In 2006, she was baptized in a believer's baptism at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris. She later moved to West Central Homes in Morris and became a resident at West Wind Village in the fall of 2009.
Elanda died Saturday, October 11, 2014, at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. She lived to reach the age of 84 years.
She was a member of Evangelical Free Church and the Morris V.F.W. auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, painting, pottery, gardening and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda (Dan) Pagel of Morris; one son: Marvin Hanson of Morris; three grandchildren: Alan (Laura Wilhelm) Pagel of Minneapolis, Kimberly (Josh) McNally of Hoffman and Amelia Pagel (Fiancé Nathan Morland) of Clarkfield and four great-grandchildren: Wylie, Sydnie and Chandler McNally and Annola Wilhelm-Pagel; brothers: Robert (Patricia) Tomason of MS and Bill (Luverne) Tomason of MS; sisters-in-law: Jewel Tomason of OR, Lou Astad of ID, Archy Tomason of CA and Ellen (Lynn) Farwell of Morris; brother-in-law: Hank Arnold of VA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, her parents; sisters: Vivian Arnold, Darleen (Bob) Logan and Betty (Tom) Foster; brothers: William Tomason, Gary Tomason, Gib (Alma) Tomason and Keith Tomason; sisters-in-law: Johnnie Mae Tomason, Rose Hanson, Marie (LeRoy) Johnson and Anne (Lowell) Benson; brothers-in-law: Martin (Josephine) Podratz, Alfred Hanson, Clifford Hanson, Carl (Lorraine) Hanson, Lewis (Lila) Hanson and Joe Eccleston.
