Elizabeth Grow

Elizabeth Astrid Jorde, daughter of Knute and Elvina (Aasland) Jorde, was born April 16, 1916 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, where she grew up and received her schooling, graduating from Thief River Falls High School. She continued her education at the Bemidji Teachers College in Bemidji, MN. On June 18, 1938 she was united in marriage to Howard Grow on the farm in Thief River Falls. Following their marriage the couple lived in various places, Northern Minnesota, Fairbault, MN and Hudson, Iowa. Elizabeth and Howard later settled in Starbuck. When Elizabeth and Howard retired they would winter in Texas, Arizona and California. Howard died on January 21, 1987. Elizabeth has continued to live in Starbuck since that time.
She was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Spending time with family was her favorite pastime and she enjoyed golfing, sewing, playing bridge and fishing along with involvement in church activities through the years.
Elizabeth died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN, having lived to reach the age of 91 years.
She is survived by four children: Roger (Carol) Grow of Black River Falls, WI, Ahne (John) Patten of Anchorage, AK, Tom (Kay) Grow of Eden Prairie and Kathy (Doug) Walker of Jefferson, IA; nine grandchildren: Sarah (Peter) Grow-Hanson, Susan (Scott) Murray, Kathy (Jerry) Adamsson, Tim (Jamie) Patten, Robert (Beverly) Palmer, Heather (Steve) Eyrich, Danielle (Dave) Kopetzki, Scott (Angela) Walker and Tod (Allison) Walker; 19 great-grandchildren: Elijah and Simon Grow-Hanson; Jacob and Jordan Murray; Samuel, Hans, August and Andreas Adamsson; Josiah, Elijah, Hannah and Grace Patten; John, Sarah and Luke Palmer; Jack and Lily Eyrich; and Benjamin and Alex Kopezki; four brothers: Tom (Marie) Jorde of CA, Grant Jorde of CA, Jim (Joanne) Jorde of MN and Keith (Sandie) Jorde of AZ; sister-in-law: Carmen Jorde of ID and special niece and friend, Donna Langer of MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Grow; great-grandchild: Lane Walker; her parents; brother: Warren Jorde and sister-in-law: Frances Jorde.
Pallbearers for the service are: Jerry Adamsson, Steve Eyrich, Dave Kopetzki, Scott Murray, Tim Patten, Scott Walker and Tod Walker. Honorary pallbearers are: Peter Hanson, Terry Pudenz and Robert Palmer. ___ will serve as organist for the service with Leroy Aasland serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
