Ella Bendt

Ella Agnes Bendt, daughter of Nick and Ella (Bornhoft) Bendt, was born July 9, 1914 in Campbell, Minnesota, where she was baptized on November 29, 1914 at the Lutheran Church by Reverend Helmstetter. Ella grew up in Wilkin County, where she also began her schooling. On June 13, 1939, she was united in marriage to Elmer Bendt in Sisseton, South Dakota. The couple farmed in Swift, Stevens and Grant Counties. In the mid 1960’s, they moved into Hancock and worked for Rainbow Rafters. Ella and Elmer celebrated their 67 th wedding anniversary in 2006. Elmer died on September 28, 2006. Ella continued to live in Morris before moving to the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria, MN, where she continued to live until the time of her death. Ella enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading.
Ella died on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria, MN, having lived to reach the age of 96 years.
She is survived by one sister: Hazel Dupree of Oregon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers for the service are: David Perseke, Larry Perseke, Darrell Perseke and Paul Gerstner. Carolee Albert will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
