Funeral services for Emil Heintzelman of Morris will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Todd Schneider will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Emil Michael Heintzelman, son of Michael and Lena (Fuchs) Heintzelman, was born February 3, 1925 in Morris, Minnesota. Emil grew up on a farm in Scott Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Alberta High School in 1942. Following his schooling, Emil stayed on the farm to help his parents. On August 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Kaehler at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. To this union seven children were born. Betty died on March 27, 1965. Emil continued to live on the farm until he retired and moved to Morris. On March 12, 1983, he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Laager in Morris. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Morris. Anna died on October 15, 2006. Emil has continued to live in Morris until the time of his death.
Emil was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, bird watching, gardening, bingo and watching sports. He especially loved farming, riding his scooter around town and spending time with family and friends.
Emil died on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota, having lived to reach the age of 89 years.
He is survived by seven children: Larry (Ginny) Heintzelman of Chokio, Steven (DeAnn) Heintzelman of Pelican Rapids, Jean (Bob) Lopez of Glyndon, Mike Heintzelman of Leonard, ND, Jim (Sara) Heintzelman of Breckenridge, Richard Heintzelman of Hot Springs, SD and Mark (Kendra) Heintzelman of The Colony, TX; four step-children: Dennis (Debbie) Laager of Springfield, IL, Diane (Leo) Sprouls of Minneapolis, Brad (Dawn) Laager of Little Falls and Pennie (Chuck) Waldoch of Burnsville; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother: Lloyd (Helen) Heintzelman of Morris; one sister: Loretta (Delroy) Asmus of Cyrus; one brother-in-law: Dewayne (Eileen) Kaehler of Fargo, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Betty and second wife: Anna; his parents; one sister: Luella Rinkenberger and brother-in-law: Frances Rinkenberger.
