Emily Marie Gullickson

Funeral services for Emily Gullickson of Glenwood, will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Indherred Lutheran Church, rural Starbuck, with Reverend Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Emily Marie (Johnsrud) Gullickson was born on July 26, 1927, to Roy and Clara (Fehsefeldt) Johnsrud in Herman, Minnesota. She attended country school at district 74 through the eighth grade and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1944. After graduation, Emily attended teachers training in Glenwood and taught until she married Ivan Gullickson in 1946. The couple welcomed four children: Sally, Steve, Jim, and Bruce.

Ivan and Emily farmed side-by-side for 49 years. She loved farm life, the outdoors, gardening, lawn mowing, tending to her flowers, and driving the tractor. While indoors, Emily enjoyed making donuts, quilting, playing cards, music, and hosting Bible studies. She enjoyed staying active in church as well as Ladies Aid and Home Makers.

In 1996, after almost fifty years of marriage, Ivan passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. Emily continued to live on the farm for two years until moving to Starbuck. After spending eighteen years in Starbuck, Emily moved to the Glenwood Estates in Glenwood, where she would enjoy spending time with other residents over coffee and donuts.

Throughout her life, Emily’s greatest joy was her family. Her faith in God remained steadfast and she will be missed by many. Emily passed away on December 5, 2022; she was 95 years old.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sally (Gene) Bardal of Keller, TX; Steve (Coleen) Gullickson of Starbuck; Jim (Becky) Gullickson of Starbuck; Bruce (Cora) Gullickson of Madison, WI; one brother, Robert (Sandy) Johnsrud; sisters-in-law: Anna Johnsrud and Mary Johnsrud; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Clara Johnsrud; her husband, Ivan; her siblings: John (Adeline) Johnsrud, Kenneth Johnsrud, Richard Johnsrud, Ruth Ann Dordan; one infant son; and one infant grandson, Mitchell Gullickson.
