Eric Richard Hagen, son of Richard and Janice (Kachelmeier) Hagen, was born August 10, 1982 in Morris, Minnesota. Eric was baptized on August 22, 1982 at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris by Father John Caskey.
He attended grade school at St. Mary's School, making his first communion in 1991 and confirmation in 1999. Eric attended Morris Area High School, graduating in 2001. He continued his education at St. Cloud Technical College, where he received his degree in Sales Management.
Eric worked at numerous jobs throughout his growing up years; mowing lawns for individuals, working at Willies Super Valu, Morris Coop and Auto Value in St. Cloud, while going to school. Eric started working as a sales team member at Menards in Alexandria, MN in March of 2004. He worked in the appliances and cabinets department, then on to the millwork department and most recently as manager of the electrical department.
Eric started out his early years living on a farm site outside of Alberta. When he was 2 years old, the family moved to Morris. Eric, who everyone knew as "Hags" loved to fish and hunt, snowmobile and go 4-wheeling with his Dad and buddies. A venture of Hags, Zeiher and Stu, was spending many hours "fixing up" Grandpa's old car to enter in the enduro races, where they had high hopes of winning lots of money. This lasted two seasons before they realized they were putting more money into the car then they would ever win back. Eric took many trips out to the Missouri River in early spring and summer with his Dad and buddies. He was always waiting to catch that "big one" to mount on the wall. Many springs, summer and fall weekends were spent in the boat fishing or fishing from shore someplace, and many winter weekends were spent in the fish house ice fishing. He especially enjoyed those winter fishing trips to the Lake of the Woods. Eric always had a great fish story to tell and liked to keep up with the fishing reports. He liked to pheasant and goose hunt and always looked forward to going to "deer camp" with his Dad and the hunting group. Eric also enjoyed golfing with his friends and playing Texas Holdem.
Eric liked to shoot trap and was on a league, in addition to being on a dart team. He loved being with and talking to friends and he loved his music. He enjoyed watching the NASCAR races and was able to go to one of the races out in Phoenix, AZ, that he thought was awesome. Eric loved to joke around and had a great sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear or do someone a favor.
Eric died on Monday, October 29, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, having lived to reach the age of 25 years.
He will be sadly missed by his parents: Rick and Jan Hagen of Morris; his sister: Amy Hagen and his niece, Chloe, both of Fargo; his grandmother: Donna Kachelmeier of Sleepy Eye and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: George and Millie Hagen and John Kachelmeier.
