Ervin Jacobson

Ervin William Jacobson, son of Lloyd and Eva (Miller) Jacobson, was born May 2, 1927 in Moore Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where he grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Following his schooling, Ervin worked for area farmers. In 1945, he was united in marriage to Arlene Sprouls. Following their marriage, the couple purchased a farm in Moore Township, where they farmed and raised their son. On January 13, 1990, he was united in marriage to Elaine Anderson Burns. The couple remained on Ervin’s farm until 2002, when they retired and moved into Hancock.




Ervin was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Morris, where he attended bible study. He enjoyed traveling, especially spending the past twelve winters in Arizona. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, woodworking and playing cribbage and pinochle.




Ervin died on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Innovis Health Community Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, having lived to reach the age of 81 years.




He is survived by his wife: Elaine Jacobson of Hancock; one son: Arnold (Janice) Jacobson of Norwood-Young America; one step-son: Jack (Sandy) Burns of Benson; one step-daughter: Judy (Gary) Stenson of Arvada, CO; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Alvin (Myrna) Jacobson of Benson, Richard (Marietta) Jacobson of St. Louis Park and Delbert (Pat) Jacobson of Farmington and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Arlene; his parents and two brothers: LeRoy and Wallace Jacobson.




Pallbearers for the service are: Rod Peterson, Reed Peterson, Jim Aanerud, Harvey Flaaten, Robert Nohl and Wally Redfield. Honorary pallbearers are Ervin’s brothers: Alvin Jacobson, Richard Jacobson and Delbert Jacobson. Lois Strei will serve as organist for the service with Roger Blair serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
