Funeral services for Estella Moser of Morris will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. The Apostolic Christian Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Estella Elizabeth Schmidgall, daughter of Henry and Emma (Koehl) Schmidgall, was born January 26, 1923 in Hancock, Minnesota, where she attended Hancock School. Stella was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church of Morris in 1938. She continued to live with her parents and helped raise "the five little boys" and Dotsy. Stella started working in the Hancock Bakery and purchased it in 1947. After selling the bakery, Stella moved to Oakville, Iowa to help Hartzell and Marion Schmidgall with their family. Stella began working at Hancock Concrete in 1956, retiring in 2002 with 46 years of service.
On January 17, 1965, she was united in marriage to Calvin Moser. They soon built a home and moved to the country. Cal passed away on January 9, 1978. Stella continued to live on the farm, before moving to Skyview Court in December, 2006. She then moved to West Wind Village in Morris, December, 2008, where she lived until the time of her death.
Stella enjoyed baking, gardening, embroidering, quilting and especially traveling in her retirement years. She especially enjoyed entertaining her siblings, nieces, nephews and others at her home on the farm.
Stella died on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 91 years.
She is survived by four brothers: Wayne (Dorothy) Schmidgall of Morris, Hartzell Schmidgall of Mediapolis, IA, Gilbert (Barbara) Schmidgall of Morris and Gene (Dorothy) Schmidgall of Morris; two sisters: Gladys Messner of Morris and Darlene Carlton of Bonney Lake, WA; one sister-in-law: Virginia Schmidgall of Morris and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers: Francis Schmidgall, Richard Schmidgall and C. Don Schmidgall; two brothers-in-law: Frank Messner and Gary Carlton and three sisters-in-law: Mabel Schmidgall, Corrine Schmidgall and Marion Schmidgall.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials in Stella's name to West Wind Village or the Courage Cottage. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
