Esther Noordmans

Funeral services for Esther Noordmans will be Monday, September 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris. Reverend Marlin Mohrman and Reverend Phil Noordmans will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, September 7, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.






Esther Elizabeth Noordmans was born on November 29, 1919, a daughter of Franklin and Caroline (Haufschild) Healy near Madison , SD. In 1920 the family moved to a farm in the Hancock area. She grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Hancock High School and went on to attend Trinity Bible College in Minneapolis . Esther was united in marriage on September 27, 1947 to Sidney Noordmans at the Christian Reformed Church in Hancock. The couple made their home on a farm by Hancock. This is where Esther raised her family and helped Sid on the farm. She was active in the Gideon’s Auxiliary and the Hancock Evangelical Free Church. Esther was a devoted letter writer, and was well known for her baked bread. She loved to make afghans, crochet and sew, especially mittens and pillows. She and Sid enjoyed playing music at the West Wind Village and community room of the Grandview Apartments.







Esther died on Thursday, September 4, 2008, having lived to reach the age of 89 years.







She is survived by her husband: Sidney of Morris; Sons: Dale (Betty) Noordmans of Hancock; Phil (Teri) Noordmans of San Diego, CA; Rollie (Rachel) Noordmans of Glenwood; daughters: Martha (Jim) Taylor of Mound; Rhoda (Larry) Fagerland of Sauk Rapids;
15 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; brothers: Ellwyn (Vicky) Healy, Minneapolis ; Fremont ( Alice ) Healy of Willmar; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Esther was preceded in death by her parents: Franklin and Caroline; sisters: Lillian Gutsche, Ada Dosdall, Elizabeth Healy; brothers: Henry, Franklin and Everett Healy.







Pallbearers for the service will be Esther’s grandchildren: Travis Taylor, Brittany Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Melissa Noordmans, Amy (Dan) Johnson, Jason Noordmans, Jeni Noordmans, Aaron Noordmans, Nathan Noordmans, Caleb Noordmans, Ronda Noordmans, Tony Noordmans, Ken Noordmans, Jodi Noordmans and Randy Noordmans. Lois Strei will serve as organist. Jason Noordmans will be the vocalist. Pedersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.







Memorials are preferred to The Gideons International.
