Esther Raddatz

Esther Louise Ida Wilhemenia Froehlich, daughter of Fred and Sophia (Pehling) Froehlich, was born February 6, 1908 in Redwood Falls, MN. She grew up in the Seaforth, Minnesota area, where she attended country school. She was baptized on March 8, 1908 and confirmed May, 1922 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Seaforth, near Redwood Falls. Following her schooling, Esther lived in Seaforth and worked at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm. On July 28, 1926, she was united in marriage to Theodore E. Raddatz in Redwood Falls. They later moved to Norcross, MN, where they farmed and attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Wheaton. In 1944, they moved to a farm place in Dollymount Township, where they lived until retiring into Dumont in 1967. They attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont, where Esther belonged to the LWML.





Esther grew a large garden and enjoyed canning and baking. She always welcomed a visitor to join her in coffee or having a meal. She loved spending time with her family.





Esther died on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.





She is survived by: six daughters: Ila Mae (Bill) Wendt of Brooklyn Center, Delores (Wally) Moerer of Ellensburg, WA, Hildred Issendorf of Graceville, Lorraine (Harold) Rixe of Morris, Darlene (Eugene) Pasche of Morris and Linda Lee (Alvin) Lattimer of Little Falls; one son: Virgil (Sharon) Raddatz of Wheaton; 29 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; one brother: Fritz Froehlich of Mankota and one brother-in-law: Herb Raddatz of Blaine. She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; her parents.





Pallbearers for the service are: Bruce Wendt, Rev. John Pasche, Rev. Rodney Rixe, Warren Raddatz, Tom Issendorf and Mike Lattimer. Honorary pallbearers are: Ken Moerer, Robert Moerer, Don Moerer, Scott Moerer, Bryan Raddatz, Duane Rixe, Tim Wendt and Steve Wendt. Dorothy Maus will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
