Ethel Harrison

April 16, 1912 — June 30, 2010

Ethel Flora Schroeder, daughter of Chris and Anna (Schaal) Schroeder, was born April 16, 1912 in Germantown Township in Cottonwood County , Minnesota , where she grew up and was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church . She graduated from Lamberton High School in 1931.On February 16, 1937 she was united in marriage to Thomas Harrison in Mankato , Minnesota . Following their marriage the couple lived in Cottonwood County until moving to the Cyrus area in 1950. They farmed there until 1956, when they moved to St. Louis Park . Ethel did babysitting out of her home and also worked at 3 Sisters and the Red Owl Bakery in Hopkins . In 1973, they moved to the Glenwood-Starbuck area, where they lived on Lake Minnewaska . Ethel continued to do babysitting for a time.





Ethel was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood. She also served on the Minnewaska Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, playing cards and listening to music. While she and Thomas were married they traveled to Portugal , Spain and Africa . Ethel especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.





Ethel died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.





She is survived by one daughter: Joyce ( Norman ) Meyer of Morris; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one brother: Douglas (Lillie) Schroeder of N. Mankato. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers: Gene, Horace, Claude, Emmet and Denver Schroeder and sisters: Nellie Espy and Mayme Zimmerman.





Pallbearers for the service are: Peter Brandt, Mike Brandt, Scott Estenson, Kevin Schroeder, Wayne Hamann and Tom Olson. Renae Brown will serve as organist for the service with Randall Pederson serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
