Fayette Jipson

Fayette Samuel Jipson, son of Harry and Ysabel (Swan) Jipson was born on May 30, 1916 at Moneta, Iowa. He attended Trimello School in Clay County Iowa before moving with his family to Chokio, Minnesota in 1935. Fayette was united in marriage to Mary Overturf on July 3, 1937 at Herman. The couple raised their family and farmed near Chokio. Mary died on Friday April 8, 2011, and one week later Fayette died from a broken heart.

In his younger years, Fayette enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, riding motorcycles and flying airplanes. He and Mary traveled extensively within the United States and throughout Europe. Fayette also enjoyed playing cards and was an avid reader. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chokio. He was also active in the Square Dancers Association.

Fayette died on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. He was 94 years old.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) Jipson, Greenwich, NY and Michael Jipson, Chokio; four daughters, Marilyn "Micki" (Richard) Carlson, Phoenix, AZ, Mavis (Stuart) Vogelbacher, Webster City, IA, Diane (Norman) Lange, Maple Grove, MN, and Janis Kaufenberg, Chokio, MN; two sisters, Myrtie Diehl, and Lillian (Leo) Benham, all of Morris; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Henrichs, Donnelly, Beth Thompson, St. Cloud, and Helen (Bill) Haffa, Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Fayette was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Ralph and Pete, a grandson, Bradley Wayne Carlson, and three brothers-in-law, Russell Diehl, Earl Thompson, and Lawrence Henrichs.

Pallbearers for the funeral will be: Brent Carlson, Brenda Randazzo, Chad Vogelbacher, Kim Miles, Lori Onstad, Craig Lange, Sarah Oliver, Samantha Borman and Michelle Jipson. Julene Amborn will be pianist for the service.
