Frances Pederson

December 25, 1923 — August 7, 2011

Sadly we share with family, friend and neighbors the news of Fran's peaceful passing on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Home in Hoffman, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, MN. Reverend Jennifer Rose will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.

Frances Elaine Keena was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1923 to Norman and Jean (Kerr) Keena in Hamilton, North Dakota, where she was baptized at the Presbyterian Church. She was the third of three daughters born to the Keena's. Her parents moved from Hamilton to Chokio, MN when Fran was eleven years old, where her father accepted a position as manager of the Chokio Equity Exchange. Fran was later confirmed at the Methodist Church in Chokio. Frances proudly graduated from Chokio High School in 1941 as Salutatorian of her class. Her intentions to attend West Central School of Agricultural in Morris were cut short when she became ill. Thus her career began as a bookkeeper and bank teller at Chokio State Bank.

Fran began dating her future husband, Lee Pederson, when he returned home from WWII in 1946. They were married on September 17, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Chokio and shared almost 62 devoted years to each other. Three children were born to this marriage, Dany, Jean and Mike.

Fran considered her family to be of the utmost importance. Nothing was more important to her than her husband's, children's and grandchildren's well being.

Fran was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was active in numerous church activities, including ladies aid, circle and bible study. She was an accomplished knitter, bridge player, doll collector and baker. She was well known for her divinity, fudge, pies and brownies. She was also an avid shopper.

In addition to her time and devotion to her family, she worked in the family's business, Pederson Agri-Service as bookkeeper for 27 years. She was active in all phases of the family business.

For the past twenty years, Fran and Lee have enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona. They have also loved spending time with their family at the Pederson family lake home on Ottertail Lake.

She is survived by her husband: Lee Pederson of Herman; two sons: Dany (Sue) Pederson of Herman and Michael Pederson of Herman; one daughter: Jean (David) Paquin of Glenwood; four grandchildren: Danelle (Chip) Bregant of Glendale, AZ, Lane (Jennifer) Pederson of Herman, Sara (Brent) Hanson of Perham and Ross (Amanda) Paquin of Dilworth; six great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jeduthon, Bryson Bregant, Brady and Jennaya Pederson and Quinn Hanson; one sister: Carrie Thomason of Minneapolis and granddogs: Bumpy, Molly, Lucy, Tia and Tanker. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Norma Keena.

Olivia Richards will serve as organist for the service with Jeanne Sperr serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
