Frances Skare

Funeral services for Frances Skare of Starbuck, MN, formerly of Cyrus, MN will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. Reverend John R. Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Cyrus South Cemetery, rural Cyrus.

Frances Anthalia Skare, daughter of Clarence and Thina (Jacobson) Aasgaard, was born September 28, 1926 in Brooten, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in Brooten, graduating from Brooten High School. On March 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Einer Skare in Benson, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Swift Falls until 1953, when they moved to Cyrus. Frances worked as a cook at the Cyrus Elementary School until retiring in 1986. Einer died on July 12, 1998. Following Einers death, Lois Anderson became a very valued friend who helped her on a daily basis. Her family will be forever grateful for the friendship and generosity she showed to Frances.

Frances was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, where she was active with the womena�(TM)s circle groups and was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Morris and the Brooten Drum and Bugle Corp. She enjoyed baking and when her eyesight was good she liked to embroider and cross stitch.

Frances died on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, MN, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.

She is survived by one daughter: Eileen (Roger) Sachs of Rosemount; one son: Wayne (Brenda) Skare of Apple Valley; four grandchildren: Jodi Lowthian, Lori Anderson (fiancAC.: Todd Bliss), Chad Skare and Tracy (Shannon) Skare; seven great-grandchildren: Tyler Lowthian, Ben Lowthian, Sam Anderson, Jeremy Parson, Ava Skare, Ashton Skare and Dalton Bliss and dear friends: Lois and Lyle Anderson of Cyrus. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and two brothers: Chester and Richard Aasgaard.

Pallbearers for the service are: Roger Sachs, Chad Skare, Tracy Skare, Tyler Lowthian, Ben Lowthian and Sam Anderson. Nola Smith will serve as organist for the service with Sheryle Dahl serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Breast Cancer Research.
