Funeral Services for Gary Boysen will be held on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry, Minnesota, with Reverend Bryan Taffe officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Gary Walter Boysen of Farwell/Lowry, Minnesota, departed this life at 10:00 p.m. on March 14 at the age of 78, in the comfort of his own home, with the care of hospice, and enveloped by the love of his family.
Gary Walter Boysen was born December 4, 1945, the 3rd child of Boyd Boysen and Irene (Olson Boysen) Holen. He grew up in the Lowry area along with his brothers and sisters, and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1964. He was drafted into the US Army and served from November 10, 1965 to November 9, 1967. While in the Army he received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksmanship Medal for rifles, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his service, he returned to the family farm near Lowry, MN and farmed with his brothers Boyd Jr. and Glen. He met his future wife, Shirley, at the Lakeside Ballroom in 1968, and they were married May, 17, 1969. Gary was introduced to road construction by Ken Johnson, launching over 50 years in the construction business which continues to this day through his son Dale. When not on a bulldozer or grader, Gary enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and black powder rifle shootings at area rendezvous.
Gary is survived by his wife: Shirley Boysen of 54 years of Farwell/Lowry; sons: Mark (April) Boysen of Edina, and Dale (Angie) Boysen of Starbuck; daughter: Julie (Doug) Seest of Worden, IL; brother: Glen (Pat) Boysen of Mesa, AZ; sisters: Hellen (Don) Dullum, and Cathy (Harold) Erpelding; and granddaughters: Jenna (Nathan) Picray, and Kayla (Tristan) Jones.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents: Boyd Boysen and Irene (Olson Boysen) Holen; and brother Boyd Boysen Jr.
