Funeral services for Gary Jacobson of Morris, MN will be held Monday, July 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Frog Lake Cemetery, rural Alberta. Military honors will be provided by the Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard.

Gerhard George Jacobson, son of Herbert and Alice (Hagen) Jacobson, was born February 27, 1943 in Morris, Minnesota. Gary was baptized on April 4, 1943 at Reque Lutheran Church near Alberta, MN by Pastor R. H. Roth and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta. Gary attended and graduated from Alberta High School in 1961. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Army on July 28, 1961. During his service, Gary was stationed at the Berlin Wall during the Berlin crisis in Germany. He received an honorable discharge on July 27, 1963. Following his discharge, Gary continued to serve his country in the U.S. Army Reserve and later with the Minnesota Army National Guard out of Morris. On March 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to Kay Weaver at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN by Rev. E. W. Eifert. Through the years, Gary owned and operated the G & S Mobil Station in Morris; worked for the City of Morris, did custom combining for Gerald Bremer, farmed in Baker Township with his family and worked as a custodian at the Morris National Guard Armory.

Gary was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post #5039 and Morris American Legion Post #29. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, stock car racing, telling Norwegian jokes to his friends, snow removal and farming on the family hobby farm. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Tyler and Brooke.

Gary died on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 69 years.

He is survived by his wife: Kay Jacobson of Morris; two sons: Todd Jacobson of Sturgeon Lake and Neal (Jennifer) Jacobson of Sauk Rapids; two grandchildren: Tyler and Brooke Jacobson of Sauk Rapids; two brothers: Curtis (Marci) Jacobson of Hamilton, MT and Ron (Carol) Jacobson of Alexandria; one sister: Shelley Jacobson of Minneapolis; He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Alice Jacobson.


**In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Courage Cottage or the Zion Lutheran Church, both of Morris.
