Memorial services for Genevieve Dosdall of Hancock, Minnesota will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A Private family burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
Genevieve Christine Nielsen, daughter of Hans Peter and Tinne (Tambo) Nielsen, was born November 4, 1923 in Drammen Township near Lake Benton, Minnesota. On December 2, 1923, she was baptized and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Diamond Lake Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Diamond Lake Township. Genevieve grew up in Drammen Township in Lincoln County, Minnesota, where she received her schooling at School District #67. She continued her education at the West Central School of Agricultural in Morris. On August 20, 1943, Genevieve was united in marriage to Glen Irving Dosdall at Diamond Lake Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, Genevieve and Glen made their home in Walden Township in Pope County, Minnesota, where they farmed and raised their children. Upon their retirement, Glen and Genevieve moved into Hancock. Glen passed away in 1996 and Genevieve has continued to live in Hancock since that time.
Genevieve was an active member of Hancock Evangelical Free Church and currently was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, crosswords, cooking, baking, reading and she truly treasured her good friends.
Genevieve died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 88 years.
She is survived by four children: Beverly (Richard) Boyer of Woodbury, Howard (Lynn) Dosdall of Morris, Roger (Beth) Dosdall of Prior Lake and Raymond (Chris) Dosdall of Columbia Heights; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Larry; her parents; one brother, Norman and one sister, Mildred.
Pallbearers for the service are: Jerry Boyer, Andrew Dosdall, Tallack Dosdall, Jamie Dosdall, Darrell Dosdall and Peter Nielsen. Audrey Erickson will serve as organist for the service, with Thore Dosdall and Jerry Boyer serving as soloists. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
