Genevieve Hendrickson

Genevieve Thompson Hendrickson was born January 28, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to her parents, H. George Thompson and Hilda (Gunderson) Thompson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and from the University of Minnesota. She was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Company for 34 years in Minneapolis and in Chicago, Illinois, retiring from there in 1975. On September 6, 1973, she was united in marriage to Gordon A. Hendrickson and following his retirement from Sears in Chicago, they moved to Glenwood in 1983. Since 1990, they have also maintained a winter residence in Gilbert, Arizona. In 2005, the couple sold their Arizona home and bought a Town home in Alexandria, Minnesota. During her retirement, Gen was involved with Federated Women's Clubs, University Women and Christian Women's Club.



Genevieve died on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, having lived to reach the age of 89 years.



She is survived by her husband: Gordon Hendrickson of Alexandria and two stepsons: Thomas Hendrickson of St. Francis and Robert Hendrickson of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her parents.



Pallbearers for the service are: Art Erickson, Harry Erickson, Kelly Erickson, Al Nelson, Glenn Gunderson and David Gunderson. Amy VanZee will serve as organist for the service with Sylvia Gunderson serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
