Funeral services for George Edward Koubsky of Glenwood, Minnesota will be held Friday, March, 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, MN. Father Peter Kirchner will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Lake Ann Cemetery in rural Glenwood.
George "Pete" Edward Koubsky, son of Joseph and Antonia (Pronek) Koubsky, was born October 13, 1938 on the family farm in Reno Township in Pope County, Minnesota, where he grew up and lived all his life. On April 6, 1964, he was united in marriage to Karen Ihnen. To this union six children were born. George held many jobs during his life, Minnesota National Guard cook, milkman, dairy farmer, sheep farmer, but was first and foremost a lifelong farmer.
George enjoyed playing the concertina, polka dancing, snowmobiling, card playing, skiing, trapping, deer hunting, drives, seeing wildlife, raising Collie dogs, making people laugh and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
George died on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 72 years.
He is survived by his wife: Karen Koubsky of Glenwood; children: Peter Koubsky of Glenwood, Paul (Barb) Koubsky of Glenwood, Terri (Mike) Lundblad of Lowry, Jody Koubsky of Lowry, Philip Koubsky of Glenwood; grandchildren: Haley, Kyler, and Lacey Koubsky and Chris and Tim Lundblad; siblings: Mary (Richard) Kaminski of Richfield, Lill Koubsky of Glenwood, Antonia Koubsky of Glenwood, Joe (Janet) Koubsky of Glenwood; sisters-in-law: Elaine Koubsky of Lowry and Dorothy Koubsky of Glenwood and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one infant son: Gordon Lee Koubsky; his parents and two brothers: Charles and Frank Koubsky.
Pallbearers for the service are: Greg Kaminski, John Koubsky, Tim Koubsky, Frank Koubsky, Mike Koubsky, Robert Koubsky, Gary Koubsky, Wes Torguson, Matt Torguson, Nathan Torguson, Dean Kellar and Randy Ihnen. Honorary pallbearers are: Vince Kaminski, Jeff Kaminski, Dennis Kellar, Rick Ihnen, Mark Anderson and Mike Anderson. Laurie Youngers will serve as pianist for the service with Cathy Kinney serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
