Funeral services for Gloria Heuer of Morris, MN will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Gloria Marie Harstad, daughter of Thelmer and Evelyn (Snorek) Harstad, was born September 20, 1940 in Morris, Minnesota. She grew up in the Morris/Donnelly area, where she was baptized at Kongsvinger Congregation Church, rural Donnelly and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Morris. Gloria attended Country School District #14 (Stone School House) through the sixth grade and Cyrus and Morris High School through the 12th grade. On November 14, 1959, she was united in marriage to Delroy Heuer at Bethany Lutheran Church in Morris by Rev. Torgney Jystad. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm near Morris. Gloria worked at Rest Haven Nursing Home for three years; Fingerhut in the assembly department for 5 years and retired in 2011 after 19 years at the Morris Public Schools in the lunch department.
Gloria was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served on the women's circle and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping, fishing, gardening, shopping, polka dancing and coffee with her friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Gloria died on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 73 years.
She is survived by her five children: Deanna Heuer (DeWayne Ritzschke) of Donnelly, Gail Heuer of Morris, Arnold Heuer of Morris, Sheila (Blair) Hill of Mitchell, SD and Sara (Brian) Martin of St. Cloud; four grandchildren: Randy Hill, Tyler Hill, Gavin Martin and Ethan Martin; one brother: Gordon (Jane) Harstad of Morris; one sister: Donna (Barry) Gades of Morris and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Delroy, February 3, 2012; one brother: Duane Harstad; her parents and her grandparents.
