Harold Jaeck

Harold Herman Jaeck, son of Herman and Hulda (Abraham) Jaeck, was born July 12, 1914 in Boyd, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in Omro Township. He attended school in Bellingham, Minnesota. On February 3, 1937, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Hansen. Following their marriage, the couple farmed and raised their three children: Harvard, Howard and Phyllis. Myrtle died in 1989. On June 26, 1993, he was united in marriage to Alice Sax Hickman. They have lived in Morris since that time.



Harold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. He loved driving around the countryside, looking at the crops. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends.



Harold died on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 93 years.



He is survived by his wife: Alice Jaeck of Morris; three children: Harvard (Karen) Jaeck of Mapleton, Howard (LoAnne) Jaeck of Morris and Phyllis (Don) Werk of Morris; one step-son: John (Mickey) Hickman of Morris; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and three sisters: Diana Goar of Montevideo, Ruth Fitzner of Ramsey and Marjorie Hanson of Brainerd. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Myrtle; one great-granddaughter: Katelee Jaeck; daughter-in-law: Violet Jaeck; his parents and two sisters: Evelyn Barton and Elvera Lee.



Pallbearers for the service are: Ken Jaeck, Barry Werk, Fran Wydra, Doug Morton, Chuck Nelson, Jon Hoganson, Tim Erickson and Doug Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are all who called Harold friend. Dorothy Maus will serve as organist, with Doug Nelson and Jon Hoganson, accompanied by Leah Nelson, will provide special music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
