Harry Rummel

Memorial services for Harry Rummel of Starbuck will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Sarah Taylor will be officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Fron Lutheran Church on Monday. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, Minnesota.

Harry Thomas Rummel, son of Harvey and Anna (Torgorson) Rummel, was born October 15, 1916 in Eldred, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. On May 2, 1942 he entered the United States Army Air Corps, serving overseas during WWII, until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1945. On January 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Vick in East Grand Forks, Minnesota by Reverend Oherstad. Following their marriage, Harry worked as a mechanic for some years, until he went into farming. After many years of farming, Harry retired and bought a resort with his wife, Myrtle, which they eventually sold and began running a grocery store in Albion Center, Minnesota. Harry then worked at a courthouse in Buffalo, Minnesota as a maintenance man, until he retired in Starbuck, Minnesota.

Harry died on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at his residence in Starbuck, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 94 years.

He is survived by his wife: Myrtle Rummel of Starbuck; his children: Joan (Ben) Machovsky of Starbuck and Karen Mallak of Gillette, WY; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Honorary urnbearers for the service are: Ben Machovsky, Mike Machovsky, Duey Machovsky, Jeff Kelly and Dale Machovsky. Shari Opdahl will serve as an organist for the service with Jeff Kelly serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
