Hazel Esther Anliker, daughter of Noah and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Anliker, was born June 17, 1929 near West Bend, Iowa in Kossuth County, where she grew up and was baptized on September 26, 1954 by the Apostolic Christian Church Ministers. At the age of 14, Hazel helped raise her brothers and sisters after the death of her mother. Hazel began her schooling in Bradgate, Iowa, completing the 8

grade. She continued her high school education through correspondence school in Chicago, IL, where she graduated from. She then went on to Ft. Dodge Beauty School, graduating as a beautician. For a short time she worked in Humboldt, Iowa as a beautician. She then went to work for the Kossuth County Engineers Office in West Bend, Iowa for the next 13 years. On December 4, 1966, she was united in marriage to Joseph Moser at the Apostolic Christian Church in West Bend, Iowa. The couple continued to farm until 1988, when their sons took over the farming operations. Hazel and Joe moved to Morris in 1989. Joe died on December 7, 2003 and Hazel has continued to make her home in Morris since that time.
Hazel was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Morris. She taught Sunday school in West Bend and Morris. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and counted cross stitch. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Hazel died on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at her home in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 80 years.
She is survived by two sons: Paul (Renae) Moser of Morris and Larry Moser of Morris; three grandchildren: Lindsey, Jordan and Mitchell Moser all of Morris; siblings: Irene (Lyle) Rick of Ruthven, IA, Leona (Donald) Lanus of Algona, IA, Dan (Delores) Anliker of Mediapolis, IA, Rachel (Dennis) Fuller of Humboldt, IA and Esther (Mike) Steil of West Bend, IA; sisters-in-law: Gladys Anliker of Spring Green, WI, Pearl Anliker of West Bend, IA and JoAnn (Gary) Harken of Algona, IA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and several brothers and sisters: Raymond Anliker, Alice Anliker, Richard Anliker, Earl Anliker, Helen Anliker and Paul Anliker.
Pallbearers for the service are: Jim Neighbors, Calvin Lanus, Mark Steil, Doug Moser, Arnie Kussatz, Kurt Kussatz and Fred Moser. Honorary pallbearers are Hazel’s grandchildren: Lindsey Moser, Jordan Moser and Mitchell Moser and all of Hazel’s nieces and nephews. The Apostolic Christian Church Choir will provide special music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
