The funeral for Helen Frances Emmons, of Starbuck, Minnesota will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, Minnesota, with Deacon Frank Schmainda officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood.
Helen Frances Paneck, daughter of Andrew and Agnes (Helvig) Paneck was born on March 25, 1926 in Marble Township near Canby, Minnesota, where she attended District #74 country school. She was united in marriage to Ira Dale Emmons on October 8, 1946 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Canby. The couple farmed for a few years before moving to Ivanhoe, Minnesota, where Helen worked as a cook at the local jail. In 1967, Helen and Ira moved to Glenwood, Minnesota. Helen worked several years as a dispatcher for Pope County before working as a nurse's assistant at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck and later at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Glenwood, retiring with over 40 years of service. Ira died on October 22, 1979. Helen continued to live in Starbuck before entering the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck in August of 2013.
Helen enjoyed quilting, embroidery and sewing. She was very proud of her grandchildren and will always be remembered for they love she gave to her family.
Helen died on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having reached the age of 87 years.
She is survived by one son, Greg (Elie) Emmons, Starbuck, MN; three daughters, Karen Ochocki, Bowling Green, KY, Debra (Bob) Schmidt, Lake City, MN and Barbara (John) Derksen, Peqout Lakes, MN; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Audrey Duis, a son-in-law, Lloyd Ochocki, and two grandsons, Randy Ochocki and Ryan Emmons.
